Making a cut between the wall and the moulding will prevent damage to the wall when you remove the moulding.
Cut through the paint that joins the moulding to the wall with a utility knife.
Then install a pre hung door and replace the trim.
If there are any nail heads in the frame that are visible pry these out with a small pry bar or the end of a hammer.
Step 2 use a drill or screwdriver to remove the screws from the face of the frame.
The process is the same for both interior and exterior doors so no matter where your door is located you can install a sturdy replacement in a few hours using basic tools.
Seeing as the frames are bricked in place during construction they are obviously not removed the same way as a timber frame.
I am looking at removing steel door frames from a solid brick internal wall the standard install from here in perth.
The door frame is in a load bearing wall but does not appear to be load bearing in its own right removal of the trim and plaster above the door shows a wooden lintel 4x3.
Can i remove the frame without issue as the existing wooden lintel is bearing the load.
